If you’re suffering from the cold this winter season, know that you’re not alone. I’m constantly cold all year-round, but the changes in my skin condition are most evident during the winter months. Luckily, I found great products that really work to keep my cracked skin smooth and soft. These are my winter essentials that have allowed me to survive the past month and I’m happy to share them with you!
If you’ve read my previous Essentials posts, this is a product that comes up time and time again. As in the name, it’s definitely an essential product to carry around with you. NIVEA’s Essential lip balm deeply moisturizes and keeps your lips soft and prevents them from chapping and drying out. My lips are constantly dry, so trust me when I say that I have tested many lip balms before discovering and loving this one. I have one literally in every room of the loft, in my handbag, and at my office desk. I also have a stockpile in my makeup room in case I ever run out (Nivea, please endorse me!). This lip balm is made with Shea butter so it’s rich and provides intensive care that will protect your lips in any weather, especially the coldest.

I have oily/combo skin so I always look for a face moisturizer that’s targeted for acne-prone skin, which means that it’s a cream that will tend to dry out my skin. Using such a product in the cold winter really dried out my skin so I wanted to find a cream that would help hydrate my skin without breaking out. Uriage’s Light Water Cream is made for those with normal to combination skin, so it really helps to hydrate without ingredients that would clog my pores or encourage breakouts. It’s light and instantly absorbs into the skin, so it’s perfect to apply on before your makeup. The cream contains Thermal Water, so it will not only hydrate but help to rebuild the skin’s barrier after sustaining the harsh cold.

If you’re in need a good exfoliator, look no further. Vasanti’s BrightenUp Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator is the product you need! This is a secret weapon that not only removes flaking skin, but if you have fine lines, acne or scarring, this is a powerful yet gentle exfoliator for your skin. I discovered this product in my ChickAdvisor Premium box, and it really rejuvenates and brightens your skin. It contains papaya enzymes, micro-crystals and aloe to keep your face hydrated and soft. You’ll instantly feel the difference! The best part, the product is cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, paraben-free and Canadian made! The directions say to use 3-5 times a week, but I cheat some weeks and use it as me face cleanser at the end of the day. It has really helped clear up my acne-prone skin, and I feel so much more refreshed after using it.

This is the holy grail of all winter products! If you have really cracked hands and those annoying dry ends on the sides of your nails that make those runs in your tights (so annoying!) you must get your hands on this hand cream. Uriage’s Bariéderm Hand Cream is rich and nourishing without being greasy or sticky. Your hands will instantly feel relieved and you’ll see the difference straight away. It’s water resistant as well, so you won’t suffer from the dry and tightening sensation you typically feel after washing your hands. I have tried many hand creams and they were either non-hydrating or very greasy. This one is a dream and does absolute wonders!
