We’re well into Summer Eighteen and the weather has been amazing! Despite the heat wave that we just survived, I honestly can’t complain about the summer we’ve been having. Having no AC in the Loft, I’m literally writing beside the fan. Heat aside, I thought it was time to share with you the beauty products I’ve been religiously using this season.
Uriage Thermal Water is an essential in my handbag. To beat the hot weather, spraying this on my face and body has kept me refreshed indoors and outdoors. I use it as a setting spray as well on top of my makeup to prevent any caking or running. If you spent a little too long under the sun, this is great to calm any burning sensations on the skin. It can equally be used on any mosquito bites if you’ve spent some late evenings outside.
Pura Botanical’s Rosemary Clarifying Mist is one of my favourite toners that I’ve ever used. I got it through a PR package and I loved it since day one of trying it. It’s a toner specifically formulated for oily and acne-prone skin. It contains tea tree, rosemary and lemongrass, ingredients that have antiseptic properties, that promotes healing and that helps minimize pores. It’s an organic product made of pure and natural ingredients. It leaves a refreshing sensation on my just-cleansed face.
This Belif duo is perfect for hot summer days. I use the True Cream Aqua Bomb as a serum that deeply hydrates my skin beyond the surface and minimizes the appearance of pores. It’s great for normal to combination skin types and won’t leave your skin sticky or greasy. I follow this application with the Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh that’s made specifically for oily skin. It controls sebum, refines pores and leaves the skin hydrated and feeling smooth and fresh. Both are lightweight and absorb very well in to the skin so I don’t feel like I’m working with a film of product on my skin prior to applying my makeup in the morning.
Aqua Bomb: $47
Oil Control Moisturizer: $46
Jack Black is a brand that offers products targeted to men, but I absolutely love using their lip balm. The Moisture Therapy Lip Balm is a rich emollient lip balm that keeps your lips hydrated. It’s enriched with shea butter, avocado oil and antioxidants that shield your lips from ever becoming dry or chapped. I love love love that it offers a sun protection with an SPF 25 so even on the sunniest days, your lips are always protected. You lips lock in moisture and stay hydrated rather than drying out within minutes, which other lip balms typically do. The lip balm comes in many flavours but my favourite contains natural mint (it also helps to fresh your breath!).
I love the summer heat because it means that I don’t have to spend 20 minutes drying my hair under intense heat that ultimately further damages my already damaged hair. I can rock my natural waves but I want to keep them soft and shiny. I’ve been using Love Beauty & Planet’s Coconut Oil & Ylang Ylang 3-in-1 Benefit Oil to nourish and hydrate my hair. I cannot stop smelling it post-application because it smells like a tropical dream! I feel like I’m on vacation by the beach with hydrated hair that doesn’t feel weighed down. I put a few pumps of the product in the palms of my hands and thoroughly work it through my damp hair, focusing on the ends, and let it dry au naturel!
