Sun’s out, legs out! Despite the typical unpredictable Montreal weather, we know spring, the sun and the warm weather are bound to come around. As the days get warmer, it’s finally time to put away the cosy cable-knit sweaters and to bring out the tanks and tees. I’ve gathered a few of my beauty favourites of the moment and want to share them with you! These are feel-good products that make me feel better in my skin.
Since I’ll be spending more time outside, I want to protect my skin from the sun’s UV rays so it’s essential that I ensure that my face moisturizer contains an SPF. Though I have acne-prone skin, I don’t want to have to choose between managing my oily skin and protecting it. Uriage’s Hyséac 3-Regul Tinted is the perfect compromise! The moisturizer is an all-in-one global skincare that will regulate inflammation and the production of excess sebum, and it conceals blemishes and evens my complexion thanks to its tinted colour. It’s a universal tone that blends so well when warm and worked on to your skin.
Looking at the ingredients, it contains an SPF so it will protect my skin from UVA-UVB filters. Wearing this moisturizer, I know my skin is under control and protected! I’ll even sometimes wear this as my foundation when I want to go out for a quick errand or at the gym and don’t want to put on makeup. The Hyséac 3-Regul Tinted is available at your local pharmacy and retails for $24.50.
My skin’s been away from the sun for far too long, so it’s pretty fair. To transition it from one season to the next, I’m pulling out my Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer! I have it in Natural Bronze and it gives me a healthy glow without looking too golden. It dusts on so nicely on to the skin and flatters any skin complexion. Since it’s a matte bronzer, it doesn’t give me shine, which I love. In areas where I’d like to have a little highlight, I’ll apply a little highlighter, but otherwise, I love the natural look this bronzer gives me. It’s available at Sephora and retails for $38. It may seem a lot for a bronzer, but a little goes a long way, so it lasts!
I’m not someone who wears deodorant on the daily, especially in the winter, just because I don’t really sweat (it’s weird, I know!). However, with the warmer weather, it’s a good idea to put some on because…well you never know. Nuxe’s Body Long-Lasting Deodorant is a product I recently started using and I adore it. It’s made with natural alum and silver powder so it neutralises any odours, it’s alcohol and paraben-free and doesn’t leave any white marks! It also protects and soothes the skin, so I see it as a double-duty product. You apply it with a built-in roller so only the amount of product needed will come out on to the skin. It has a sweet, subtle and delicate smell of coconut, blossom and vanilla, and it’s perfect for any skin type, even on just-shaved skin. As most of Nuxe’s products, the body deodorant contains at least 97% of natural origin ingredients, so you’re not exposing your skin to any harsh chemicals. The deodorant is available at your local pharmacy or beautyboutique.ca and retails for $15.
Now that we’re done with winter, my skin isn’t being damaged by the harsh cold so I can transition from a rich body moisturizer with shea butter to one that’s a little lighter yet still hydrating. I started using Uriage’s Silky Body Lotion and it smells like an absolute dream! Infused with Thermal Water, it’s a silky and fluid cream that absorbs very well into the skin. It’s a light texture that provides 24h hydration.
After stepping out of the shower, I pat my skin dry, apply some Thermal Water, allow my skin to drink that in and finish with a thin layer of this body lotion. My skin is soft, smooth and moisturized. I’ve used lotions from mass brands but I found that they dried up my skin to the point where I was constantly applying it. Some of highly fragranced, which in turned irritated my skin, but the Silky Body Lotion is quickly absorbed while leaving softness behind. I also have a bottle on my nightstand in case I want to reapply some lotion before going to bed. It’s available at your local pharmacy and beautyboutique.ca and retails for $22.95.
