With every passing year, I’ve noticed my skin changing, lines are becoming more and more visible and blemishes don’t seem to ever go away. The daily skincare routine that I established as a teenager needed to be altered, and that meant changing the products I use. However, one thing would always remain, and that’s using a good moisturizer. Does that mean having to purchase products that say “anti-aging” or “restores youthful glow”? I sure hope not, at least not yet!
I’ve always been a NIVEA advocate, and when I heard that they launched a new moisturizer, I was intrigued.
NIVEA came out with a new versatile, lightweight 2-in-1 moisturizing primer that’s formulated for dry and sensitive skin. Since mine is oily/combination, the first thing I look for on any facial product is the type of skin it’s made for. I was a little concerned since it’s not one targeted for mine and that it would make my face a field of oil, but seeing that it leaves a non-greasy base, I was a little reassured and hopeful.
The moisturizer is said to be made up of a long-lasting formula that will protect and provide an even-looking skin, enriched with natural almond oil and soothing calendula extract, and it absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving the skin feeling light and soft.
I put the moisturizer to the test in two scenarios, the first being just as a moisturizer after cleansing my face, and the second, as a primer underneath my makeup to see how it measures up with and sans makeup products applied.
It’s a thin, lightweight and gel-like cream that absorbs nicely into the skin. It’s cool to the touch so it refreshes the skin and awakens it, which is great if you’re applying it in the morning. After cleansing my face, I patted it dry and dabbed my index and middle fingers into the jar, and worked the moisturizer into my skin, especially around my eyes to reduce any puffiness. Once the moisturizer set, I didn’t notice any dewiness, which is a major thumbs up for me. I went about my usual morning routine (brewed some coffee and picked my OOTD). About a half hour later, I noticed that a layer of shine on my forehead, which isn’t the look that I’m going for. On to the next testing scenario. After applying my makeup, the shine disappeared. Checking in a few hours after the application, my face looked shinier than usual and I needed to powder my nose more often.
Overall, I would use the cream as a primer for my eyes, and to reduce the puffiness in the morning. I really hope that they come out with a formulation that’s targeted specifically for oily/combo skin because I like everything about this moisturizer! I also noticed that there isn’t an SPF coverage in this moisturizer, so I would be more inclined to use one that I currently have that has an SPF in it when I know I’ll be out in the sun.
You can grab a jar of NIVEA’s 2-in-1 moisturizing primer at your local drugstore or Walmart. It rings up to about $11, which is reasonable for a moisturizer. I hope this review helps you get a better idea of the product. Please let your comments down below and let me know how this product works for you!
