We’re living in that odd period when the weather is incredibly temperamental. You step outside in the morning layered up because it’s hella cold, but as the day goes on, you find yourself peeling off every layer until you wish you wore shorts and a tank. In a minute you can experience two extreme weather conditions, and we wonder why we tolerate this predictably unpredictable Montreal weather. Regardless, fall is days away and whether we like it or not, we must prepare ourselves for its arrival. It’s time to put away the tanning oils and bronzers and take out the beauty products that will make fall just a little more bearable. I’ve gathered some of my favourite items to use in the fall, but quite honestly, I use them all year-round as well!
I absolutely adore Nudestix for the lips. It has a matte finish (you know how much I love matte) and the colour doesn’t transfer! If you’re unfamiliar with Nudestix products, they’re essentially a three-in-one product that you can use on your lips as a stain, colour or liner. I own a few colours, but the one I snatched at Gen Beauty this year is a deep Burgundy, which is honestly the perfect shade for fall. It’s bold but not too extravagant for the office, and it transitions well into the evening for a night out with the girls or for a date. It’s highly pigmented and provides great coverage with little product, and it glides on so effortlessly. It also dries quickly, leaving a fabulously matte look.

This is a definite necessity in my books. I literally have a Nivea Essential lip balm everywhere: in my handbag, on my nightstand, on my vanity table, and on my work desk. So if we’re ever hanging out and you find yourself with dry lips, I’ve got you covered. My lips tend to be dry, and this is the only moisturizing lip balm that actually keeps my lips hydrated and plump. I’ve done the rounds of different lip balms, but none measure up to this one. It has shea butter in it, which will help you maintain hydrated and smooth lips.

Uriage is a brand that I recently discovered and I’m slowly falling for their products, especially their Hyséac line, which is catered towards those with acne-prone skin. It’s a powerful and multi-functional product that’s made for me. The 3-Regul targets blemishes and blackheads, and acts to help mattify shine. If you have crazy outbreaks and need to remedy the situation fast, this moisturizer will help you do just that. Apply it once in the morning and before bed and you’re golden. I have noticed my complexion clear up only days after using it, and have completely integrated it into my skincare regime. What’s more, it smells so fresh!

Having painted nails is second nature to me. With naked nails, I feel like something’s missing, and to be quite honest, I don’t feel like myself. My go-to colour is a blush pink, but every once in a while, especially during fall and winter, I love a rich burgundy. I came across L’Oréal Paris’ Extraordinaire Gel-Lacque in Bold Bordeaux and it’s a beautiful warm colour to pair with thick and cozy knits. The colour also matches my Nudestix lip! Only two coats are needed for a beautiful and opaque nail finish.

In my teens, I used Ralph Lauren Ralph, but over the years, I have appreciated a more refined smell and upgraded to Ralph Lauren Romance, and I have gotten so many compliments on it. If you’re into fruity or sweet scents, this perfume isn’t for you. It’s light, woodsy and musky with a hint or floral. To me, it’s the smell of sophistication that lends itself well for all seasons. It’s appropriate for the day time as it is for the evening, and I really think that’s why I love it so much. It’s classy and can be worn for any occasion and at any time of the year. I have it in every size, a rollerball that I pop in my handbag or in my travel bag and the regular size for everyday wear.

I discovered IGK this year at Gen Beauty, and I’m in absolute awe with their products. Not only are they free of sulfates and parabens, but they all smell amazing. I love putting their products on not only because they smell so good, but they really work. Where have you been all my life?! I use their Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel religiously, and it’s the perfect hair care product transitioning into the fall season. My hair tends to dry up and break with the cold weather, and so this product will hydrate it without giving it a too done up look. If you know me, I love a natural look, and this gel will give me a more lived-in but healthy looking hair. It’s a formula that won’t weigh your hair down and will replenish lost nutrients. Your locks will reap the nourishing benefits of coconut oil and will love you for it. Your hair will feel so soft afterward, you won’t be able to stop running your fingers through it. It’s also a vegan, cruelty-free and free or gluten product. Thumbs up all around!
