Regardless of what season we’re in, our skin always seems to be reacting exactly the opposite of what we want it. Of course in an ideal world, we’d all have perfectly balanced and hydrated skin, but that’s absolutely not the case for me. I have oily and acne-prone skin on my face, slight eczema on my arms and super dry legs. Honestly, my skin is a hot mess.
CeraVe was kind enough to send me a few products to try out and I was excited to have received three to review: Hydrating Cleanser, Renewing SA Lotion and Renewing SA Cream. CeraVe was developed by dermatologists and its products are the first of their kind to contain essential ceramides that our skin needs to restore the skin’s natural barrier.
The Hydrating Cleanser was formulated for those with normal to dry skin. Since my skin is on the opposite side of the spectrum, I leave this cleanser in the shower and use it to wash my face to ensure that all my makeup has been removed. Post-workout when my skin is a little more sensitive than usual, I opt to use this to not further irritate my skin.
Looking at these two products, you might ask yourself, what does ‘SA’ stand for? Salicylic Acid! Now, what does it do to our skin? The medication helps to remove the outer layer of the skin and helps to break down any skin debris that clogs pores. Essentially and oddly enough, any product with SA is good for atopy-prone skin, eczema, psoriasis and acne.
The Renewing SA Lotion is lightweight and absorbs rapidly into the skin. It’s fragrance-free and non-greasy, two elements I really enjoy in a moisturizer. Since it’s a lighter texture than the Renewing SA Cream, I use it mainly on my hands and arms.
The Renewing SA Cream is my favourite of these products. It’s thicker than the Renewing SA Lotion so this guy’s for those really dry patches. My legs and feet and probably the driest parts of my body, maybe because when I was younger I was just too lazy to moisturizer those prior to going to bed! I leave this tub on my bedside table and apply it before going to sleep. The product is thick but melts so nicely onto the skin. It absorbs so nicely and doesn’t leave a greasy film on the skin so the sheets won’t stick to you like glue!
