If you have a petite or narrow face, you totally understand the struggle of finding glasses and sunglasses that don’t make you look bug-eyed and lenses that won’t cover half your face. Already that I don’t have a nose bridge that keeps frames up, I also have to put up with those that just don’t compliment my face.
I wear contact lenses most often because it’s just more manageable when I workout and I don’t have to constantly be adjusting glasses on my face. However, going from morning to evening with contacts and staring at a computer screen for 8+ hours, my eyes dry out and get irritated. I simply didn’t feel confident wearing my glasses out in public but I knew I couldn’t keep aggravating my eyes with contact lenses.
Bonlook is a Quebec company that I came across and I really love the fact that their frames are minimalist, simple yet trendy. After browsing their different collaborations and collections, I fell upon their Petite collection. I immediately knew I had to get a pair but struggled to narrow down my choices (too many colours and shapes to choose from!).
Although you can virtually try on the frames online, I went in-store to try on the different options to give me a better idea of what would suit my style. I hesitated between a transparent blush one and a tortoise and decided that the latter would be the better choice for me. For the shape, I went back and forth between Imagine and Myrtle, but I couldn’t stop thinking of Sepia Kiss, which has rounder lenses and more of the look I was going for, so I settled on those. As a reference, the Imagine in petite frame measures about 5” from temple to temple.
You can order frames both online and in-store, but I decided to do it online. One thing to note if you’re going to order frames from them is that you need to have a valid prescription from your optometrist, as they don’t conduct eye exams. From selecting your frames to sending in your prescription, the process was super simple to follow. Post-order, you’ll get an email letting you know at which stage they’re at in processing your glasses, so you know when to expect them.
The frames are so affordable too, running at $145 for single vision. If you’re in need of progressive lenses, they run at $299. You can also include a Blue Light Protection for an additional fee of $50. Anti-scratch and anti-glare coatings are included on all orders. There’s a $50 fee to get thinner lenses that you could opt out of, so I did at first, thinking my prescription wasn’t strong enough to result in thick lenses (I’m at -2.00 for both eyes), but I got an email a few days after placing the order informing me that I needed to get them thinner for the specific frames that I chose.
Once I got them, I went in-store to get them adjusted for free and I couldn’t be happier with the result! They’re so lightweight that I forget sometimes that I have them on! I absolutely love wearing them and have gotten so many compliments on them. I feel confident and don’t hesitate to wear them out if I feel that my eyes need a little break from contact lenses.
Bonlook is a very active company, regularly coming out with new collections and different frames. They have promotions every now and again, offering dollars off or BOGO deals, so keep an eye out!
